Roots is a Yorkshire national touring theatre company that stages important stories created with neighbourhood ensembles.
We invited Yorkshire writers to reimagine the return of life to cities following Coronavirus with York Theatre Royal.
We create our theatre with artists and neighbourhood ensembles; diverse communities of non-professionals local to the theatres we perform in.
Roots is a registered charity committed to celebrating the creativity of people throughout England. In our Neighbourhood Ensemble rehearsals we develop the talents of everybody; from life-long theatre-goers to people who have never before participated in the exciting life of their local theatre. Our legacy lives on long after a tour with each Neighbourhood Ensemble becoming ambassadors for their theatre.
